Brief Career of EC Members

1. Sudhir Chandra Nath | Chairperson

Mr. Sudhir Chandra Nath, is currently working as Business Director, Advance Chemical Industries (ACI) Seed- ACI PLC. Mr. Nath is a veteran and passionate development professional who has more than 38 years of value-added experience both in Bangladesh and Africa (Uganda) in Agriculture Sector.

His expertise’s is on Seed System, Micro-Finance, Agricultural credit, Employment and Income Generation programs, Agro-input and Agricultural research & Development activities.

He is also a prominent and principal name in the seed industry of Bangladesh. He played the role of vice president of Bangladesh Seed Association from 2009 to 2011. He was also a board member of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) since 2005 to 2024 and was also a steering committee member of “The roots and Tuber Crops Research & Development Program for Food Security in Asia Pacific region. He was also a steering committee member of   Consumer Utilities &Trust Societies (CUTS) International, India.

Under his leadership BRAC has country’s largest private seed Companies in Bangladesh. After completed his tenure period in BRAC, Mr Nath has joined in ACI as Business Director, ACI Seed, ACI Ltd in December, 2016 and till now he is working in ACI as Business Director.

2. Md. Fazlul Hoque | Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

His career spanning more than four decades at BRAC, Mr. Hoque is a veteran of organizational management and oversight. His extensive background includes field-level leadership as a Regional Manager for Microfinance, as well as strategic roles as a Monitoring Specialist, Head of HR, and General Manager of Procurement. Following his career at BRAC, he served as a Director at MAKS Trading Limited for two years. He currently operates as an Independent Consultant, specializing in Procurement, HR, Monitoring, and Institutional Investigations.

3. Afroza Khan | Chief Operating Officer (COO)

She started her career at BRAC in 1985 and worked there in different capacities such as Program Organizer, Area Manager, and Trainer at Training centers at field levels and played vital role for providing Gender Training to national level NGOs from Head office. In addition she worked as Secretary of Director, Training Division for coordinating with National and International level NGOs for marketing on Planning, Leadership, Gender, Microfinance, Education, Health, and other trainings for more than 25 years. After retirement from BRAC she worked in different NGOs as Trainer, Gender expert and Programmer.

Basically she is a seasoned development professional with over 38 years of experience across a diverse portfolio of prominent NGOs and international organizations, including BRAC, UDDIPAN, Naripakkha, Durbar Network, CDF, and IFDC. Her expertise lies in gender advocacy, technical training, and program design, making her a vital asset in implementing rights-based initiatives for women and girls.

4. Md. Mahbubur Rahman Khan | Member

He began his career in 1981 as a Field Officer at Tea Holdings Limited (Transcom Limited), where he served for four and a half years under Managing Director Latifur Rahman. His early responsibilities were foundational, encompassing secretarial duties like taking direction, managing trading business activities, and maintaining bank liaisons. Before transitioning fully into the banking sector, he also gained valuable experience at Nawab Abdul Malek Jute Mills, setting the stage for a diverse career in private institutions. He then transitioned into the banking industry, joining the newly established Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC as a Junior Officer in the Chairman’s Secretariat under Mr. A. R. Laskar. He later held similar secretarial roles at Al-Baraka Bank PLC and Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC. While his core expertise lay in board-level affairs—specifically preparing minutes and managing papers for Chairmen—a pivotal transfer to Al-Arafah’s Main Branch provided him with essential hands-on experience in operational and investment banking. By the time he formally retired in 2025 as a First Vice President, he had amassed over four decades of expertise spanning trading, branch-level operations, and board governance. His professional standing was bolstered by a Diploma in Secretarial Science and specialized training from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), the Institute of Chartered Secretaries, and various bank academies. This blend of secretarial precision and banking operational knowledge defined his long and distinguished tenure.

5. Md. Musharraf Hussain | Member

Mr. Hussain has dedicated over 35 years to national and international development, most notably serving as a Head of Administration for the World Food Programme (WFP). Following his distinguished career with the United Nations, he transitioned to the private sector, where he manages two successful private limited companies in real estate development and travel and tourism services.

6. Jui Shams | Member

Ms. Shams is a dedicated NGO professional with over 25 years of experience in public health and community development. Her expertise is to coordinate, communicate, networking with various educational institutes, media (Print & Electronic), NGOs, INGOs, CBOs, etc. for effective implementation of the program/project needs. She is experienced in designing various training programs on HIV/AIDS, TB, Reproductive Health, education and other related issues. In addition she has successfully conducted need assessment survey, baseline survey, program evaluation, and action research (both qualitative and quantitative) as per requirement of the program.  Currently she has been working as a Program Officer for the BRAC Tuberculosis (TB) Program, where she continues to contribute to large-scale health interventions.

7. ASM Shohidur Rahman | Treasurer

Mr. Rahman’s 30-year career is characterized by a successful transition from the garments industry to the development sector, where he retired as a Senior Manager at BRAC. Following his retirement, he moved into the agribusiness sector, where he is now a prominent entrepreneur and the sole distributor of specialized chemicals to major tea estates across the country.
