PBL Healthcare Center, Kamrangirchar

Project Context and Rationale
Kamrangirchar is one of Dhaka’s most densely populated areas, characterized by a high concentration of families living below the poverty line. For many years, an international NGO served as the primary medical provider for this community. However, the closure of their operations in early 2025 left a critical void in accessible healthcare.

Recognizing this humanitarian gap, a group of former physicians and staff from that organization collaborated with PBL to establish a new center dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable primary and emergency healthcare. The PBL Healthcare Center officially launched its operations in July 2025 to ensure the residents of Kamrangirchar continue to have a local, reliable medical home.

Comprehensive Service Portfolio
The center provides a wide spectrum of medical services designed to address the specific health challenges of an urban impoverished community:

  • Maternal & Neonatal Health: Comprehensive care for pregnant and postnatal mothers, including family planning services.
  • Child & Adolescent Wellness: Pediatric healthcare and specialized child nutrition counseling.
  • Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRHR): Education and clinical services focusing on reproductive rights and health.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Primary care and ongoing treatment for non-communicable diseases, specifically Diabetes and Hypertension.
  • Emergency & Minor Trauma Care: Treatment for acute injuries, cuts, and wounds.
  • Immunization & Preventive Care: Vaccination programs for Diphtheria, Hepatitis, and Rabies.
  • Dermatology: Diagnosis and treatment of common skin diseases.
  • General Consultation: Expert medical consultations for patients of all ages, led by a team of highly experienced physicians.
